Dear Valued Patient,
After over 41 years of dedicated care in Northern Nevada and the surrounding area, we are writing to let you know that Sierra Infectious Diseases will be permanently closing as of August 31, 2025. Dr. Steven Parker, Dr. Elaine Yee, and Dr. F. Kevin Murphy will be retiring at that time, marking the conclusion of a long and meaningful chapter in our professional lives.
This decision comes after careful reflection and is based on a combination of personal and systemic factors. In addition to the natural transition of our physicians into retirement, the increasing financial burden of private practice, coupled with steadily declining insurance reimbursements, has made it difficult to sustain independent specialty care. These challenges have also made it increasingly difficult to recruit new providers to carry the practice forward, despite our best efforts.
It has been our deepest honor to care for you. We are truly grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us and for the opportunity to serve this community for over four decades.

Your medical records will be securely maintained by our designated custodian:

You may contact Mandy directly to request a copy of your medical records or arrange for them to be sent to a new provider. All requests will be handled in compliance with HIPAA and Nevada state law.
Finding a New Infectious Disease Provider
We recommend the following options for continued infectious disease care in the Reno area:
- Renown Infectious Disease (limited outpatient availability)
- HOPE’s Clinic
- Dr. Erik Jensen – accepting new patients
- Dr. Andres Adrianza, who recently joined our practice, with Dr. Erik Jensen’s office and is available for follow-up care
We encourage you to begin this process as early as possible to avoid any gaps in care.
